Paper Bag Drawing...

I have been feeling remarkably creative lately. I have been looking at objects in a different way and have been collecting things that would usually be discarded like envelopes and shopping bags.

I've also started to draw on some of the paper I have been collecting. I love drawing on used paper bags, envelopes, butchers paper and other pre-loved materials! The folds, creases, tears, and stains add to the work by informing my lines and giving the piece another dimension. Working on preloved paper  is also much less intimidating than a new piece of watercolour paper (which will undoubtedly come later). Moreover, used paper is so very cheap, which is always a positive thing!

Anyway, here are some images of a drawing I completed recently on a used shopping bag.

I'm really enjoying the free style of this line work; I gripped my pen like a toddler and went with the flow! It was drawn quickly and intuitively without much thought. It's a very cathartic process!

COFA Annual 2011

Hello!

I thought I'd kick off my blog with a summary of my artworks from throughout my degree at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) in Sydney, Australia.

Studying textiles within a Fine Arts degree enabled me to explore so many wondrous materials and techniques! Here is a small selection of my favourite works in which I have utilised wire, cotton, and wool with crochet, colour discharge and scorching (playing with fire is ALWAYS fun!)
